Dear Friends,
As you may have heard, I’ve been campaigning hard to be your Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer. The need for a new Assessor has never been greater. I’m running for Assessor Treasurer because I believe I’m the most qualified candidate for the job and the most likely to defeat incumbent Dale Washam. With almost 20 years of public policy experience and an MBA from Cal Poly, I will be a leader in the Assessor’s office to manage staff effectively and remain accountable to property owners.
My most important priority is that I will run a professional office where staff, constituents, and fellow public servants are treated with respect.
As former chief of staff for Senator Kastama in Eastern Pierce and current County Councilmember representing Tacoma, Fircrest, and University Place, I’ve worked for or represented voters in nearly half of Pierce County. I have already personally knocked on nearly 3,000 doors in rural areas and am setting a high goal to reach 20,000 people before next November. The response from voters has been an overwhelming message of the need for change.
My vision is to move the Assessor’s office forward by:
- Alleviating homeowner’s tax burdens by providing information to property owners on all potential tax advantages such as the Senior Property Tax Exception and the Current Use Forest, Agriculture, and Open Spaces Program.
- Revamping customer service models and the department’s website, including making it easier for people to file appeals to increase fairness and improve the accuracy of our records.
- Streamlining government by partnering with other departments such as Planning and Land Use to provide easy access to public information on each parcel, and working with municipalities to ensure that local communities are getting their fair share of tax revenue.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
